Hainault Golf Club consists of two 18 hole courses, both are spectacular and offer different challenges. The courses known as the Upper and Lower Courses date back to 1909 and 1923 with par values of 70 and 72 respectively and both courses were designed by five time open champion JH Taylor, featuring a wide range of hazards which will always add interest during your round.
This course is the older sister to the Lower course. The courses measures just 5,886 yards and is a par 70, but dont be fooled. The overall yardage may be on the short side but there are numerous strong holes to contend with and many fairways are tightly lined by dense woodland.
The whole course undulates with many rolling and sweeping fairways and its elevated position provides some breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and into the heart of London.
This course is the younger sister to the Upper Course. At 6,545 yards, Par 72, the overall layout is superb and is one of the best tests of golf in Essex, if not Southern England.
From some of the higher ground on the course it is possible to appreciate not only the surrounding landscape but also the quality maturity of the course itself. The renowned golf commentator Henry Longhurst listed the Par 4, 12th as amongst his favourite holes in golf. Once experienced, it is easy to see why.
