The Golf Courses
Welcome to Hainault London Golf Club
Here at Hainault London Golf Club, we have two 18 Hole tree-lined golf courses.
The courses date back to 1909 with par values of 72 for ‘The London Course’ and 70 for ‘The Old Course’. Both courses were designed by the five times open champion JH Taylor.
THE LONDON COURSE
Par 72, 6480 yards, Course Rating 71.3, Slope Rating 125.
The London Course hosted the 2003 Essex Amateur Championships final and was the first pay and play golf course to be awarded such a prestigious accolade. The course is a par 72 and is a very good test of the long hitter, rewarding accurate long tee shots, but punishing poor course strategy. It is fairly open, with strategically placed trees, and wide fairways. The par 4, 12th is considered to be one of the finest holes in the south of England, with an elevated tee to a fairway cut into Hainault Forest, with a sharp dogleg right that slopes heavily, making ball placement an important issue.
THE OLD COURSE
Par 70, 5948 Yards, Course Rating 68.7 Slope Rating 116.
The Old course, is situated on the highest point in Essex and has spectacular views across to the London skyline, and the Essex countryside. It hugs the hillside closest to the Hainault Forest country park and consequently woodland is more dense making for tree lined undulating fairways. The course has tighter fairways and is hillier than the London course. Although it is shorter with a par of 70, the Old Course is still a very good test and will punish the wayward golfer.
With fast and tricky to read greens, fantastic woodland holes and picturesque views of London, the course offers an excellent all round golfing experience. Good course management will be the key too shooting a low round.
